Lost in the Fog is for those who enjoy classic crime & mystery books with a modern comedic twist. If it were a movie it would be The Big Lebowski meets The Thomas Crown Affair ... or maybe The Pink Panther spliced with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But it's a novel, and here's the story:
Camden Swanson once had a successful TV and newspaper career, but that imploded about a year ago. Upward mobility tends to disappear after you drop acid and write a front page story about a monkey snake invasion you hallucinated These days Camden is content to swill beer in his free time and write haiku during his shifts as a museum security guard in San Francisco.
But when a beautiful woman convinces him to help her team of thieves rob his place of employment, Camden's days of drunken leisure are over.
He agrees to participate in the heist, but never gets the chance. The night before Camden is to help steal the museum’s prized Matisse sculptures, somebody else does. The Tall Woman believes he used his insider information to double cross her, and gives him three days to return the sculptures or else he will be killed.
Camden teams up with Veronica Zarcarsky, an administrative assistant who works at the museum, to find the real thief. She is a recent journalism grad who sees this as a chance to launch her career. Camden and Veronica embark on an adventure into the underbelly of the San Francisco art world, where they’ll either be killed, wind up in jail, or solve the mystery.
